Services -The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) new Pay Bill Number has been announced.
This was aimed at doing away with its old pay bill number used by Kenyans to make their payments through mobile money platforms. Instead, contributors will be required to use the single Government Pay Bill number as directed by President Ruto.
Following the directive, the Treasury CS, Njuguna Ndung’u, introduced the 222222 pay bill number to be used to pay for all government services. In a move to digitize all government services, the CS, also noted that the eCitizen digital payments platform was designed to allow Kenyans to pay for services online. The notice shared noted, “All payments for government services shall progressively be made through the platform.”
The change from the previous pay bill to the Government Pay Bill number is effective immediately. This means that you’ll be now required to make future payments through the pay bill number 222222.

To make your NHIF payments through M-PESA using the new PayBill number, follow the steps below:
- Go to M-PESA Menu and click on Lipa na Mpesa then PayBill
- Enter 222222 as the PayBill Number
- Enter NHIFM-ID Number (for example, NHIFM-11223344) as the Account Number
