Fraud -Emily Kamunde Osoro who now runs Rise & Learn once did a mistake with her school fees by diverting it to a risky deal.
Her biggest mistake according to an interview she held with a local channel, was to put into a pyramid scheme a whopping sh 700,000 which she had borrowed for her Masters Degree studies. The pyramid scheme had promised huge returns for anyone who invested well what caught her attention. Any investment had to attract equal profits.
She disclosed that she bought afew items for her room, paid her first semester and then deposited the remaining colossal amounts into the pyramid scheme.
“I thought it was a wise move to invest and earn some interest while I studied. In the first month, I got a cheque of Sh. 97,000. But the pyramid scheme burst before I collected my second cheque. I lost all my money and spent the next five years repaying a loan that I could not positively account for. I also had to come up with other options to finance my MBA,” she recounted.
Kamunde however, agrees that after this one mistake, she learnt that anyone can make a mistake in life as long as he or she is trying to achieve something. Moreover, some things are just hard to avoid at some point in life. But what is important is to learn from the mistakes, rise and walk again.
Her thriving company deals in human resource and leadership consulting; and has been privileged to get jobs with corporate entities that pay well for services offered.
