Digital Career –Former Kiss100 FM radio queen, Caroline Mutoko, has revealed details on her new-found career in digital marketing.
The celebrated media personality, while speaking with Daily Nation, revealed that she is earning more money now as a digital marketer than she did when she was on radio as a presenter.
She confirmed having been on radio for straight 19 years; four and a half at Capital FM before proceeding to Kiss FM for 14 years.
And working in the digital space, according to her account, has been kind, and that she now makes a descent living out of it.
She also enjoys the fact that she is nolonger required to wake up as early as 3AM to report in the studios as it was years back when she had to start her morning shows every day from Monday to Friday.
“I always knew that there was a world beyond the mic, and I guess this is it. I am a great storyteller, and I am using that to make a living. I’m glad that I make a lot more money than I did when I was on the radio”
“It’s been nine years since I left radio. I left because I felt it was time, and I’ve never looked back. I know many wondered why I quit. Some encouraged me to hold on. That I had a great show on radio. But, a good dancer knows when to leave the stage. So far, the transition has been good and rewarding. I have taken time to reflect and put things into perspective. I like that I am still doing well without having to wake up at 4am,” the Daily Nation quoted her in an interview.
Mutoko has, since reinventing herself as a digital marketer, worked with several top local and international brands among them – Tecno, Safaricom, Dubai Tourism, L’Oreal, and Netflix.
The mother of two added that she can nolonger come back on radio because she gave it her all when it lasted and has fully embraced her new online career.
“It has been nine years since I left (radio), and I am glad I did it. And to be honest, if I wanted a radio experience, I would start a podcast. A podcast is the modern radio,” Mutoko stated.
Among those she mentored while still in the media are Walter Mong’are aka Nyambane, Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, Larry Madowo, Shaffie Weru, Sanaipei Tande, and DNG.
Jalang’o and Chipukeezy, according to Ms Mutoko, were the best partners when it came to hardworking and delivery.
