Fuel Cost -Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority EPRA has announced that the pump prices of Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene had been reduced by sh 5.31 per litre, sh10.00 per litre and sh18.68 per litre, respectively.
“The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020,” read part of the statement.
With the new prices, Nairobi motorists will pay sh193.84 for a litre of petrol, sh180.38 for a litre of diesel and sh170.06 for a litre of kerosene.
Miles away in Mombasa, motorists will part with sh190.66, sh 177.21 and sh 166.99 for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene respectively.
It will be interesting to now watch and see if transport industry will also lower the cost of travelling especially through the Public Service Vehicles PSVs.
