Investment –Hilton Hotel’ located in Nairobi city’s CBD is closing operations in Kenya.
An anonymous official made the sad confirmations on Thursday April 28 saying the hotel will nolonger be operating in the country due to some reasons.
He clarified that from December this year, the multimillion facility will be no more and that this had already been officially communicated to employees and stakeholders.
The source told the outlet that more details on the matter will only be communicated through the management at the rightful time.
“Hilton CBD will close its doors in December this year after almost 53 years, it is quite unfortunate but the top management will issue a detailed statement later to explain to Kenyans what informed that decision,” the source divulged.
The investment has 40.57 per cent in its operator, International Hotels Kenya Limited, and its shutting down will be affecting hundreds of staff.
Some lucky staff will, however, be redeployed to Hilton outlets like Double Tree based in Hurlingham and Hilton Garden Inn based at Nairobi Airport.
“The closure of the hotel will result in a retrenchment process. However, we will work with those impacted to help them find alternative employment,” the official further explained.
Hilton is located only 8 minutes walk from the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) and Jamia Mosque.
