Appointed –Former Health Chief Administrative Secretary CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi has landed a role in Government.
The health professional today was appointed to serve as the chairperson of the board of directors of Pumwani Hospital, Nairobi.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja made this appointment in a Gazette notice published on April 28, 2023.
The Governor appointed five more people to the board to serve alongside the former CAS. These are Evalyne Ikwii Omasaja, Saidi Motokaa, Ali Joram Juma Mkwambaa, Zahra Mohammed, and Hassan Ali Amin.
Their appointment will run for a period of three years and this could be renewed or not depending on their competitiveness.
Mwangangi’s new role is a promotion from her former position as part of a six-member special task force that reviewed the health sector in Nairobi City.
“The taskforce shall prepare and submit its report to the Governor of Nairobi City County Government together with its recommendations within Forty-Five (45) days from the date of its appointment.
“The Office of the Governor shall constitute the secretariat of the Taskforce,” read a notice from Sakaja on September 15, 2022,
Ms Mwangangi name shot to fame when she was serving as Health Chief Administrative secretary CAS. She would be tasked with updating the country on Covid-19 pandemic.
