Strike – Eight unions, among them the Kenya Medical Practitioners have planned to commence their strike in about 12 counties around the country.
In their Friday, April 14 announcement, the unions’ bosses stated that they would down their tools in 12 counties starting next Wednesday, April 19.
The eight bodies also include Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU), Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN), Kenya Union of Clinical Officers(KUCO), Kenya National Union of Pharmaceutical Technologists, Kenya Health Professional Society, Kenya Union of Nutritionists and Dieticians.
They indicated that the main aim of planning to go slow is to send a strong message to their employer over lack of enough working resources.
“We regret to inform you that our members will not be able to attend work as scheduled as of Wednesday, April 19, 2023,” partly read the statement.
In the press briefing, they blamed President William Ruto for failing to honour their March 2013 salaries.
