Wealth –Roads, Transport and Public Works Cabinet Secretary Nominee, Kipchumba Murkomen, is worth sh 550 million.
Speaking for the first time during the ongoing vetting exercise at the Parliament building today Wednesday October 19, the politician pegged his wealth at an astounding figure of sh 550 million.
He attributed this success to his many parcels of land, properties as well as other business around the country.
“I am worth an estimated figure of Ksh550 million, made up of properties, parcels of land, vehicles, and a wheelbarrow.
“I don’t own a motorbike. My sources of income are from my law practice, my senate salary and farming,” he stated.
He also linked part of his breakthrough to his early life in national politics after Raila Odinga nominated him to sit in the task force on the devolved government shortly after the promulgation of the 2010 Constitution.
Reacting to this, Kakamega County Deputy Governor Ayuba Savula stated that politics in Kenya is a lucrative career if what the ex-Senator had declared is anything to go by.
“There is money in politics. Kipchumba Murkomen, the CS nominee joined politics 10 yrs ago a poor man doing TV analysis & moonlighting at Moi University. Today, he is worth 550 million. Academia is just a waste of time. Watch Salasya,” he commented.
Renowned political analyst Herman Manyora would join the debate by wondering how Murkomen, within just a few years, had become filthy rich.
