Life –Languishing health journalist Nasibo Kabale has shared her relationship with the Ministry of Health former Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe.
Speaking of how the former Health CS used to recognise her in person due to the work she was doing in health reporting sector, the now washed away Kabale explained that Mutahi used to call her by name every time they went for apress briefing about the pandemic.
“The time of Covid, Mutahi Kagwe used to recognise me in person. He used to call me ‘Nasibo Nasibo’” she recalled.
While being interviewed at her ramshackle house on the streets, Kabale said, in 2020, she had the privilege of being awarded with a presidential award in the Health sector.
“In 2020 I heard the presidential award in health,” she explained to the reporter who went to meet her in her old makeshift home.
The journalist explained further that, when they sacked some people at Nation Media, she remained with other four colleagues and the work was too much especially when covering the Coviod-19 victims.
“We remained about five and seeing patients of Covid die, this affected me mentally. I had to resign despite being among the five that were lucky to be left behind in the office.
“When I remained in office, I was diagnosed with depression. I specialise in health reporting and did so well,” she narrated her old story.
She loved health reporting because her father was a clinical officer by profession and, therefore, this looked like a family thing.
Kabale went to Statehouse Primary School then joined Merry Hill High School before jetting out of the country to the Metro Missouri University in the United Kingdom U.K where she took a Degree course in Communication and Broadcast Journalism under partial scholarship.
She has made a pledge to quit drugs once taken away from the streets where she lives defending herself using a knife.
